How to Get Google Tag Manager ID (Step-by-Step Guide)

If you want to manage tracking codes (like Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel) without editing your website code repeatedly, you need a Google Tag Manager ID (GTM ID). In this guide, you’ll learn how to create and get your GTM ID easily.

Step-by-Step: Get Google Tag Manager ID

Step 1: Go to Google Tag Manager

Visit: https://tagmanager.google.com/

Login with your Google account.

Step 2: Create a New Account

Click on “Create Account”

Fill in:

  1. Account Name (Your business name)
  2. Country

Step 3: Set Up Container

Container is where your tags live.

Add:

  1. Container Name (your website name)
  2. Target Platform ? Select Web

Click Create

Step 5: Get Your GTM ID

After creating the container, you’ll see a popup with your code.

Your GTM ID will look like: GTM-XXXXXXX

You can also find it later at the top of your dashboard.

Add GTM ID to Your Website

Now add the copied meta tag to your website:

  1. Go to your website dashboard
  2. Navigate to General Settings
  3. Find the field: Google Tag manager id
  4. Paste the copied code
  5. Save your changes
